Giada had few answers. According to her, the land beyond the
border was madness and confusion. She couldn’t even say for certain that it existed
as “a place”. The attempt to pull answers from Shena’s corpse was even more
troubling. Rather than an antagonistic verbal sparring match with her spirit, a
hostile entity seized control of the body, rose into the air and spewed threats
and vitriol before immolating itself in a moment of brilliant fire.
Much debate was had. In the end, it was decided Giada would
stay with the party - in disguise when necessary. Calls for her to face charges,
and even execution, were quickly silenced by the Prince, who called her friend.
Once the party reached the road, Marty scryed in on Bar’Bark
and found the gnoll living with the humans in a thrown-together compound made
of crude barricades. The Fey Queen’s threat seemed genuine, Coronado’s Ferry
was under attack! The party altered their route. They found a deserted river
ferry had been constructed and abandoned. Fording the river by magic they
arrived in town to discover the place besieged by the daemon they had released.
Many had died and the camps of gnolls and humans had set aside their
differences for mutual protection. Lieutenant Kenny Ismort and his troops were
holding the town largely thanks to the arrival of Paladin Shelby and Sister
Mjelde.
A war party was formed. Giada (revealed to Shelby) would
track the beast back to its lair, and the party would kill the beast in its
hole. Shelby, Kenny and Mjelde all joined to help.
